There are mainly two ways of making money using your website/blog.
1. Joining an ad network.
2. Joining an affiliate program or network.
So what are the differences between the two?
Well, an ad network pays you to display their ads on your website. Usually they pay per thousand impressions or per click(PPM or PPC).

On the other hand, an affiliate program pays you by sales or leads. Meaning if someone buys their products or signs up for their programs by clicking the link on your website, then you get paid. This is also known as PPA. Generally PPA pays much more than PPC and PPM.

There are many affiliate programs out there. So rather than joining them individually, it is better to join an affiliate network which consists of a lot of affiliate programs.
Shareasale is a good one to join. It has about 3000 affiliate programs for publishers(website owners) to join. The upside for this program is that all the merchants have prepaid, so you don't need worry about not getting paid from a particular affiliate program.
Once you sign up, browse through the Merchant list to find an affiliate program that you like to join.
One of the best merchants in shareasale would be The original Scrapbox . It's a company that sells storage box. Once you reach the website, click skip intro. Under Main, you will see Affiliate program. After you clicked Join Now, if you already have a shareasale account, just log in and you will be added to the program.
Its EPC(earnings per click) is one of the highest among the programs. EPC is an indication of how likely a product will be sold after someone clicks the link.
